Dillon
Her Honor Mayor Sharon Dillon of Sedro-Woolley has
supported the Skagit business community for much of her adult life
and owns auto-parts stores in Concrete, Darrington and her own town.
In an interview with Dyas A. Lawson, she explains how important it’s
been for her to combine her business acumen with running the county’s
third-largest city.
Sedro-Woolley
The once-sleepy logging town of Sedro-Woolley, remarkably
unchanged during its 100-plus years of history, is on the brink of
an economic revival centered on tourism development. A town of many
festivals, some still promoting its timber heritage, Sedro-Woolley
continues to be a place to enjoy a summer’s day or a winter parade.
And now it has a major park in the plans.

Retirement Care
It’s never been a secret that Skagit County is a great
place to retire to — and statistics show this to be true. It’s also
a haven for those requiring assisted-living or other special care,
with the strong growth of care centers of all kinds since the ’70s.
The question is raised, however, whether we have enough of these centers
now, even though the “boomer generation” is growing into them.
