New pita restaurant opens on Cordata
AHeavy Metal Works: Design and fabrication studio on South Whidbey
Tim Leonard “took the leap” last spring to open his own shop specializing in custom metal design and fabrication for commercial, residential and public art applications. His desire to have his own business came from a long-held dream to focus on each client’s need for a unique product.
“I have to work very closely with my clients because they do not necessarily know the details of what they want. I have to go from concept, design and budget to construction,” notes Leonard. Heavy Metal Works was designed to satisfy his need for a more intimate, hands-on, client-oriented approach in conceptualizing and fabricating each project.
Heavy Metal Works has recently completed work for the South Whidbey School District/LMS PTA, Useless Bay Coffee Company, Combustion Systems Sales and Service Inc., the Bayview Cash Store, the residences of Marty and Peggy Fernandez, and designer Lynn Mizono.

White Jade Acupuncture under new ownership
When Janna Rome decided to move to California and leave her well-established acupuncture business in Freeland, she searched very carefully for someone who would continue the excellent reputation she had created for White Jade Acupuncture. Rome selected Ryan Vos, whom she had worked with at Bastyr University.
Vos took over the practice in late summer, but settled in for a few months before replacing the White Jade Acupuncture sign with a new one with his name.

His resume includes a master’s in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Bastyr University, a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of Michigan, certification from the National Acupuncture Detox Association, and a post-graduate internship at Shu Guang Hospital in Shanghai.
In addition to performing acupuncture, Vos does Chinese bodywork and energy medicine, and keeps a large supply of Chinese Herbal medicines.
