Pet boutique opens in Fairhaven
Boo’s Parlour in Fairhaven is expanding, opening Boo’s Boutique, featuring accoutrements for the pampered feline or canine, in the vintage train car next door on Harris Avenue and 12th Streets.
Owners Michelle and Jon Grover plan to stock the wood-ceiling train car with everything from designer doggie clothing to beds, catnip, chew bones, fancy collars with pearls and rhinestones, and colorful leashes. In addition, dogs are welcome to come munch on homemade treats while their owners sip coffee. Eventually, the Grovers plan to add limited, pre-packaged people snacks and doggie birthday cakes for pup parties. Dog owners are also welcome to bring items from surrounding restaurants and dine with their dogs on the outside benches.
Michelle’s dog grooming salon, Boo’s Parlour has been located at the adjacent train car for seven years, and she has been in the grooming business for over 12 years. Inspired by Taimi Dunn Gorman’s, Fairhaven Doggie Diner, which was closed after being sold to a new owner in 2002, Michelle has waited years to open her own place. When the train car next door became available, she jumped on the lease, doubling their 800 square foot business.
