Important dates to remember

1 Sexual Harassment Seminar. The Bellingham/Whatcom Chamber of Commerce and Western Washington University’s College of Business and Economics present a seminar on sexual harassment at the Washington Educational Credit Union Educational Center in Bellingham. The seminar runs 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and costs $15 for chamber members, $30 for non-members. Call the Bellingham/Whatcom Chamber at (350) 734-1330 for more information.

16 4th Corner Consultants’ Roundtable. The Roundtable presents a discussion on “The new minimum is Everything” at 6:45 a.m. at the Quality Inns Baron Suites on Kellogg Road in Bellingham. The topic will look into how companies can no longer offer just good solutions, they must offer comprehensive solutions. Cost is $10 for non-members. The Roundtable is a place for management consultants as well as business owners and managers to meet, network and pool resources.

17 Management Team Succession Planning. Moss Adams presents the second in a series of management training seminars from 7:45 a.m. to 9 a.m. at its offices on Rimland Drive in Bellingham. The seminar costs $25. For more information or to register, please contact Penni Kotsalis at (360) 676-1920.

18 Technology Alliance Group Luncheon. Telepath Consulting, Inc. President Colin McWhinnie presents “Filling the Sales Pipeline: How to Generate Real-time Leads and Keep Them Warm.” The event takes place from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the DIS building on Cornwall Street in Bellingham. Cost is $10 at the door for non-members and includes lunch.

19 Business University 2005. The Island County Economic Development Council hosts a small-business workshop at Oak Hall on Skagit Valley College’s Whidbey Island campus. The cost including lunch and a resource binder is $50 and the course runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is underwritten by Skagit Valley College, Whidbey I sland Campus and Puget Sound Energy. 19 Humane Society 12th Annual Auction. The Humane Society of Skagit Valley’s 12th Annual auction will take place at the Corporate Air Center in Burlington beginning at 5:30 p.m. The cost for attendance is $25. Please call (360) 757-2568 for more information or to volunteer.

19 Business University 2005. Island District Economic Development Council and the Skagit Valley College, Whidbey Island Campus offer a class to aid business owners and start-up business in beating a horrific statistic – the fact that only 5 percent of small businesses make it past the first five years. Fourteen individual workshops, offered by expert presenters will give information on everything from planning to finance to sales. The seminar will be held at the Whidbey Island Campus of Skagit Valley College from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and costs $50. The fee includes lunch, a keynote speech by Russell Fisher, a noted authority on developing process improvement practices, and a resource binder. For more information call (888) 506-7999.

21–23 First Aid Training. Skagit County EMS Commission, with funding from the Medic One levy, offers free CPR and First Aid courses March 21 and March 23 from 8 a.m. to noon. Participants must attend both classes to receive certification. Please contact Skagit County EMS at (360) 428-3231 to sign up.

24 NW Food Business 101. Washington State University’s Whatcom County Extension is partnering with Oregon State University’s Food Innovation Center to bring “NW Food Business 101,” – a videoconference for entrepreneurs wanting to start or expand a food-related business – to Whatcom County on March 24 from 12:30 to 5:00 p.m. The class will be held at the WSU Extension office located at 1000 N. Forest, Bellingham, Washington. The fee is $50 per person, which includes a resource workbook. Registration deadline is March 21, 2005.
