General Requirements

File Compatibility

The following guidelines are for digital materials supplied to NW Business Monthly/Pulse Publications. Materials can be accepted only if it meets our specifications for electronic output and our printers' requirements. An extra charge may be applied if it does not meet with these guidelines.

1. Digital files in color must be accompanied by a color proof, while B&W files must include a laser proof. We accept no responsibility for content or color accuracy where no proof has been supplied.

2. Please note that a charge will be applied to all digitally supplied ads received past our deadline.

We can accept files created in Macintosh format only, and in the following programs:

• InDesign

• QuarkXpress

• Adobe Pagemaker

• Adobe Illustrator

• Adobe Photoshop

• MacroMedia FreeHand

File types can be accepted in these formats:

• Press Ready PDF format

• QuarkXpress documents (.qxd)

• Illustrator format (.ai)

• FreeHand (.fh)

• Photoshop format/CMYK mode (.psd)

• Photoshop TIFF/CMYK mode (No LZW)

• Photoshop EPS (Single file, not DCS) /CMYK mode

• We do not accept Microsoft .doc, .xls & .pub formats.

FTP & E-mailed Ads

• Send ads as E-mail attachments to: prepress@nwbusinessmonthly.com. For files over 20 MB send to our FTP site.

• FTP ads to ftp.nwbusinessmonthly.com. Login: bizmonth; Password: bizmonth. Create folder with name of advertiser, indicate publication and issue date.

• Black & white files sent via e-mail must be accompanied by a faxed copy of the file sent.

• Color files sent via E-mail require a color proof couriered to our office.

• Please contact the production department via email or phone prior to sending files by FTP.

Media Compatibility

Font Compatibility

We can accept files created in Macintosh or PC format, and on the following media:

• email, FTP

• Zip Disk, CD, DVD

• All fonts must be supplied with your files. If none are supplied we will match as close as possible.

• Only PostScript fonts are supported. We do not support True Type fonts. Please supply both printer and screen fonts.

• All Illustrator fonts must be converted to outline.

• Do not send fonts compressed.

Additional Requirements

• Supporting files such as placed scans or graphic elements must be supplied in CMYK values or greyscale.

• Image resolution must be at least 250 dpi.
