7 Highland Games. Follow the flying caber to Hovander Park in Ferndale for the 43rd annual games. Events include highland dancing, pipes and drums, a pipe band competition, step dancing, fiddles, beer and strong people tossing the caber. Camping is available. 11 What to do if the EEOC knocks on your door? Mt. Baker Society for Human Resources Management hosts Judith Cotner, equal employment opportunity commission enforcement officer. Cotner brings her 22 years of experience to bear on topics such as the EEOC’s four statues, responding to EEOC charges, common charges received by the EEOC and current charges now heading for litigation. This program is eligible for HRCI recertification credit. Tony Larson, publisher of Business Pulse and owner of the Bellingham Bells, will talk to the Northwest Business Club about the City of Bellingham plan to spend anywhere from $10 million to $60 million on an arts and cultural center downtown. He will also discuss SOCK, a group of civic and business leaders dedicated to modernizing and updating the athletic facilities at the Civic Field complex.
