People on the Move Banner adds two vice presidents Banner Bank recently promoted two senior vice presidents. Bruce Clawson is now senior vice president and division manager. He joined the bank last year as a commercial loan officer. Clawson has also worked as senior executive with Trillium Corporation and Geographics, Inc. He has an economics degree from UCLA and is a certified public account. Linda Parker Hasz is now senior vice president and division credit officer with the commercial lending team. She will be responsible for commercial lending credit approvals in Whatcom County. Parker Hasz has also worked for Bank of America, Source Capital Corporation and West One Bank. She has a master’s degree in budgeting, finance and management from the University of Idaho.
International
Absorbents add to Tedd Ellis and Paul Barron joined International Absorbents in the marketing department. Ellis most recently worked as senior principal and group managing director at Publicis, an international advertising and marketing firm. Before that, he worked for the Kal-Kan Pet Foods and supervised advertising programs for PETsMART. Ellis is now International Absorbents’ director of marketing. Paul Barron joins the company as brand manager. Barron was most recently product manager for WestFarm Foods, which sells product under the Darigold label. He also worked in sales and marketing for Kellogg’s.
Windermere hires new associates Windermere Real Estate announced several new associates recently. Jenny Johnson is a new sales associate in Windermere’s Bellingham office. She comes to the company from Christ the King Community Church where she was a sports ministry director. Johnson holds a graduate realtors institute designation. Kari Skinner is a new sales associate in the Bellingham office. She has more than 18 years’ customer service experience. Most recently, Skinner worked at Anthony’s Home Port in Bellingham.
McClurg joins Camelot Kelly McClurg is now part of the programming staff at Camelot Computer Services. She has 20 years experience in software development and network administration with Boeing and NetManage. She will focus on accounting software solutions and eBusiness applications.
Sherwin earns designation Cindy Sherwin recently earned a designation in long-term care planning. She attended a training course in Salt Lake City. Sherwin is a financial advisor with Waddell and Reed.
Cooper elected
to John Cooper, president of the Bellingham/Whatcom County Visitors Bureau, was elected to a one-year term as secretary-treasurer of the Western Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus. Cooper will oversee the organization’s operations and will chair the membership technology committee. He has served on the board for the past four years.
Delaney promoted by Northwest Industries Northwest Industries promoted Stacy Delaney to sales manager and marketing director. In her new position she will meet with area businesses and advocate on for of people with developmental disabilities. She will also seek to form partnerships with the business community. Delaney has been with the company for 15 years. “Delaney has done a tremendous job for Northwest Industries,” said Carol Lord, director of Northwest Industries. Northwest Industries opened in 1972 and has provided employment to more than 150 developmentally disabled adults while providing assembly and packaging services to area businesses.
Haggen promotes three Haggen recently added three new managers. Jan Rystrom is now manager of whole health, a newly created position. She will develop and manage WellAware, a new program designed to help customers with special dietary needs and with creating a healthier lifestyle. Rystrom comes to Haggen from Animas Corporation where she was manager of clinical services. She has also worked as diabetes education director for St. Joseph Hospital, nutrition counselor at Western Washington University and diabetes education program director for the Northwest Diabetes Center. Rystrom is a registered dietician, certified nutritionist, certified diabetes educator, and certified insulin pump trainer. Paul Cooley was named new store manager of Haggen Food and Pharmacy at Barkley Village. He has 17 years’ experience in the grocery industry. Cooley joined Haggen in 1996 and most recently was store manager in Stanwood. Bruce Striggow joined the company as general merchandise category manager. He comes to Haggen from Supervalu where he worked with Haggen’s general merchandise department. He also held several management positions with Payless Drug, which is now RiteAid.
Associates earn
awards Michele Wolf and Karen Lawson were presented with service awards by Edward Jones Investments last month. Wolf, branch office administrator for Brian Lydiard in Lynden, received a five year service award. She was also promoted to senior branch office administrator last April. Karen Lawson received a two year service award. She is branch office administrator for Tim Villhauer in Edward Jones’ Fairhaven office.
DeYoung appointed by Northwestern Mutual David R. DeYoung is now financial representative with Northwestern Mutual Financial Network. He will be associated with the company’s Middleton Group, which serves Western Washington and Alaska. DeYoung will offer a variety of insurance and annuity products. DeYoung has an undergraduate degree from Western Washington University.
Matthews joins Northwest Computer Northwest Computer Supplies added Wayne Matthews to their account management team. Matthews has worked as a senior account executive at both Lucent Technologies and Verizon Enterprise Solutions.
Pree now heads Kulshan Group Cindi Pree renamed her virtual assistant business Kulshan Group. She will continue to handle daily administrative functions and special projects for local businesses. Pree also now offers online real estate transaction coordination to local realtors. Pree will set up a secure web page to handle all administrative details in a real estate transaction. She recently received certification from the International Virtual Assistants Association as a certified real estate support specialist.
Thorson a-wagging Railene Thorson was recently promoted by Tails-A-Wagging Doggie Day Care to lead dog attendant. Thorson joined the company last February. She will manage a staff of nine team members.
Four join Unity Group The Unity Group recently added three sales associates and a new employee in their marketing department. Rich Hultquist joined the company as an employee benefits and retirement plan services producer. He has more than 10 years’ experience in the insurance industry and has worked for AUL-Retirement Services and the Principal Financial Group. Rob Sloan is a new commercial producer. He has more than 15 years’ experience in consultative sales and spent the last four years in commercial insurance and risk management in the Portland, Oregon, area. Kim Fisher rejoined the Unity Group as a life insurance and employee benefits producer. Fisher has 16 years’ experience in the insurance industry and worked in management with the Unity Group until 1999. She worked for the last three years as an advertising sales representative at Pulse Publications. Wendy Keneipp joined Unity Group as a business development coordinator. She worked for CompuServe in Seattle as a channel marketing manager and at Atrieva as a partnership marketing manager.
Troutman selected for leadership program Paul Troutman was selected for an 18 month agriculture and forestry leadership development program. He will attend a series of 14 seminars designed to enhance his leadership skills and encourage his contribution to natural resource industries in Washington state. Troutman is one of 22 members of this 26th class organized by the Washington Agriculture and Forestry Education Foundation.
3D Computer hires technician Michael Dodd joined 3D Computer’s NetTech team. He has worked as Unix administrator at Brown and Cole and was general manager for OpenAccess. He has experience in all aspects of Unix administration, Perl scripting, PHP programming, and MySQL database development. Dodd recently received a certificate of achievement as a Windows 2003 expert.
Whidbey Island Bank promotes Vice President Karen Keene-Simmons was promoted to vice president at the bank’s real estate loan center. She has 22 years’ experience in banking and joined Whidbey Island Bank in 1997. Keene-Simmons has helped in developing real estate operations and currently manages the bank’s real estate division.
Moss-Adams names new chief executives Moss-Adams named a new chief executive officer and a new chief operating officer. Rick Anderson was elected chief executive officer to replace Robert Bunting. Anderson has been with Moss-Adams for more than 30 years and is an alumnus of Western Washington University. Chris Schmidt, managing partner in the Orange County, California office, will replace Anderson as president and chief operations officer. “Rick . . . is well thought of in the industry and integral to the growth of Moss-Adams,” said Russ Wilson, managing partner in the Bellingham office. “As a Western graduate, he has obviously spent significant time in Bellingham and is familiar with our office and clients. His election says a lot about the caliber of graduates from Western.”
